Sounds sort of backwards compared to most people. What I really would like is some sort of crystallized berry mixture that I could mix with water. Just 100% purple fruits and veggies. No soy powder. I know it exist somewhere but I just need a little free time to search for it. I just strongly believe that I need these kinds of nutrients in my body daily without having to worry about the time needed to chew. Between raising a family, working a full-time job and running an online business, eating is sometimes put on the back burner.

I Do Not Have a Choice But to Eat Healthy or Else

If you follow me on here and read my articles you probably already know I have a chronic disease called Crohn’s. This is basically an open wound inside the intestine anywhere from top to bottom in my body. I have to watch what I am eating. I cannot indulge on alcohol, too much caffeine, deep fried food, sugar and other non-healthy foods. This why I eat healthy and exercise. This is what keeps me going.

Quitting Smoking After 12 Years

Having Crohn’s forced me to quit smoking. If you smoke you know that one of the best times to have a cigarette is after a meal, and then what happens? you go to the toilet. This is because smoking exhilarates our digestion process. It is not a natural way to digest the meal you just had. Not to mention other side effects of smoking. Having Crohn’s means I have a super fast digestion, and so smoking hurts in a big way. But it is hard just quitting you might say, you bet it is hard. It took me 5 years to fully quit since I made the mental decision in my head. You see, once I had Crohn’s in me, every time I smoked I had this nasty skin rush developing all over me. It must have had something to do with the condition of my intestines. So to clear the rush I had to go to the doctor and get antibiotics, taking antibiotics helped and I got back to smoking and then get skin rush and the cycle never ended. It was a vicious cycle at that.

As for my diet, I ate everything I did before my Crohn’s and that did not help either, because red meat, deep fried food, dairy products, especially melted cheese and so on are bad for our body anyway, not to mention for someone with a chronic disease. So what I am saying is that having Crohn’s was actually a blessing from god because it forced me to quit smoking and eat healthy, I did not have a choice you see. It is as if someone shoots at my feet so if I do not jump I get a bullet, and no matter how tired I am, I have to keep jumping which makes my legs stronger.

Living with an intestine disorder is great because I found that if I only eat highly nutritious food I can live with this disease in peace as if I do not have it at all and be happy. Not only that, my body reacts accordingly. My body thanks me when I eat well and punish me if I eat junk. It is that simple.

As for exercise, it helps create all sorts of changes within my body that enhance even more my immune system and my health over all.

Both the ground seeds and the oil are very perishable. While you can store most oils in a cool, dark cupboard, this oil requires refrigeration. Many other oils are also stable over a long period of time. Unfortunately, you have to use this within two weeks of opening it, as it will go bad if kept longer.

You may be wondering how to add this oil to your diet. What does it taste like? What foods will it go well with? Or, should I put it in a capsule and swallow it without tasting it?

The answer to the last question is highly individual, but as I’ve used it myself I can answer the others fairly easily. The taste reminds me of nuts, but it is very slight. I’ve used the oil in mashed potatoes in place of part of the salt and part of the margarine and it turned out quite tasty. It might also taste good in a stir fry, but should be added at the end of cooking as the heat could destroy the Omega-3s.

The ground seeds can be mixed into many dishes. You can add it to your morning oatmeal or substitute it for part of the flour when baking. I think it would taste very good in applesauce cake or pumpkin bread.

Adding flax to your diet could help you avoid heart disease and high cholesterol. It provides a healthy fat to augment the others, and can be very tasty. It is advisable to talk to your doctor before taking this as a supplement. In could make some medical conditions worse.
